It was on 17 November 1991 that the foundations of the European Handball Federation were laid at the first EHF Congress held in Berlin, Germany.
Now 25 years later the federation is looking forward to both celebrating both its 25 anniversary and also the hosting of the 13th Ordinary EHF Congress.
After the 10th anniversary – Vision Forum – celebrations held in the Pyramide in Vösendorf, near Vienna, and the 20th anniversary held under the banner of ‘HeartBeat HandBall’ in the same venue, the countdown is continuing to the next milestone in the federation’s history.
On 17/18 November 2016, officials from across European handball will again gather in Austria but this time in the small town of Wolfgangsee, close to Salzburg, overlooking Lake Wolfgang with a panoramic view of the Salzkammergut mountains.
The event will be held in the Scalaria event resort, which offers a vast range of top-quality modern facilities built around a castle.
Further information is available on the EHF Congress page of the website.
Look back to the 20 year celebrations
In 2011, the EHF brought together 500 guests from across the European handball family including past and present players, presidents, secretaries general, partners and supporters for a large number of events and working meetings, culminating in the ‘HeartBeat HandBall Gala’ on Thursday 17 November 2011.
A special anniversary publication was also produced and those present treated to a look back over the past 20 years of the federation.
